Going Bananas!

We're at week 20, and Baby BOY J is the size of a banana! Yes, yes...last week we found of that Baby J is officially a boy. When the ultrasound began, he was being a bit shy and had his little legs crossed, and the technician mistakenly said HE was a SHE. Then, as the ultrasound continued and the baby began moving around it became pretty quickly obviously that we have a sweet baby boy.

20 Weeks Along

However, Baby J is still nameless. We have a list of about 8 names that are still in the running, but nothing is for sure just yet. Stay tuned for more developments!

It Just Might be Fall...Finally!

Yesterday was so nice and cool, that we had the windows open all day. Macey absolutely loved going from window to window talking to nature. I think the dogs liked it, too!

Over the weekend, we also tried out the new infant seat and double stroller, and Macey decided that this car seat is definitely for her. She sits in it to watch TV or to read a book or just to relax, and she spends a lot of time making it rock!

This photo was taken mid-dance, which is why it's a tiny bit blurry in some spots.)

I'm a Little Teapot

Let's just say, I don't expect MJ to be invited to have tea with Queen Elizabeth anytime soon. However, I think she hosts excellent tea parties!

19 Weeks Along: It's a Tomato!

I am definitely hopefully will start posting baby #2 updates (for now, we'll call him/her Baby J) every week. That's the plan! Friday, we find out if Baby J is a boy or a girl, which just might get us one step closer to picking out a name. At this point, I'm hoping this baby is born with a name already chosen.

According to BabyCenter.com:
Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom —
about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

Oh, Baby Center, you make me laugh. "Don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her..." You don't know me very well because basically this poor child hears me talk, sing, laugh nonstop. When I finally fall asleep at night, Baby J probably thinks, "Thank goodness,  mom. Let's take a little break from all the yapping and all get some rest."

I have no clue what an heirloom tomato is, and I distinctly remember thinking the same thing when Macey was that size. However, I'm pretty happy that his/her arms should be proportionate to the rest of the body now. I don't plan on having a little baby T-Rex.

In case you're wondering what Baby Center says about my growth, basically I'll just be getting fatter for the next 21 weeks. Should be fun!

When I Grow Up

As a mom, I have so much fun daydreaming about what Macey will be like in high school, college, at her wedding, in her career, etc. I have a few thoughts on what her future might hold, and I'm happy to share just a few.
  • A celebrity quadruple-threat as a singer, dancer, actress and clothing designer. I could definitely see her as a little mogul, like Jennifer Lopez. Just call her Macey from the 'Ville. If you think I'm kidding, you should see her rock out to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.
  • A politician or city leader. For one, when we walk through the halls at church or down the aisles at Target, she's constantly waving, smiling and saying, "Heeeeyyy" to everyone we pass. Also, last night at her daddy's softball game, she brought me a cigarette butt and some chewed-up gum. She's just doing her part to keep our parks clean!
  • A dog whisperer. She has no fear when it comes to dogs of any shape, size, color, breed or demeanor. I realize that can be both good and bad, so I'm already trying to teach her not to sneak up on dogs and to gently pet, rather than hit which she loves to try first.
  • A stunt double. Did I mention she has no fear? I can see her jumping off trains and flying over skyscrapers any day. But maybe that would make her a superhero...
That's our girl...wild at heart.
