Goals

(Disclaimer: I totally stole this idea from my friend Danielle, but she's really nice so I doubt she'd care.)

In my mind, I've had some flexible goals set for this whole Couch to 5K adventure, but to be honest I'm surprised I've even lasted to week three so I haven't given much thought to my goals. I think it's a good idea to put them in writing to hold myself accountable. My current goals aren't necessarily associated with a specific amount of weight loss, but primarily focused on getting through the 9-week program...even if it takes me longer than 9 weeks!

Goal #1: If I make it to week 5, buy a new pair of good running shoes.

Goal #2: If I make it through the program and sign up for a 5K race, buy a cool running outfit because I definitely run in sloppy, baggy clothes.

Goal #3: If I go through with the 5K race, I'm going to treat myself to a pedicure. I realize that a pedicure is not really a "treat" for many women, but because I can do my own nails at home, I rarely fork over the cash to have a professional do it for me. So, for me...a pedicure is a fun treat!

Men Are Terrible Creatures

My husband is lucky I love him so much...and like him most of the time. :-)

A few weeks ago, I started the Couch 2 5K running program, which was a huge deal for me because I am NOT a runner. Even when I played sports, I didn't like running. So, yesterday I began week #3 of the 9-week program, and Greg decided to start running with me. As I'm huffing, puffing and praying to God to get me through the final minutes, Greg's just leisurely running along and pushing BOTH kids in the jogging stroller like it's the easiest thing he's ever done. He may not have even broken a sweat, and I could have watered our flower beds with my t-shirt by the time we were done.

Also keep in mind that for a at least two months now I've been working out (admittedly not as consistent as I should) and watching what I eat. That fact is VERY important as you read the next sentence. This morning, Greg hopped on the scale and said, "Hmmm...I lost six pounds." SIX POUNDS! After two runs.

I told him he couldn't be my running partner anymore.

Sweet Sports Dreams

Easton must be having sweet dreams of sports, but I think he's all mixed up. Tigers blanket, Grizzlies jammies and a baseball pacifier!

So Different From His Sister

For about four months now we have been commenting on how different Easton is from Macey, and here are exhibits A and B to help prove our point. :-)

A) This afternoon while feeding Easton, I ran upstairs to check on Macey who had just gone up there playing with "Buhley" (our Basset Hound, Bailey). I was gone for less than 30 seconds, and when I came back down to the kitchen, I found Easton like this...sound asleep. Out like a light! At first I was scared to death, because it's a little unsettling to unexpectedly see your baby with his head down like that perfectly still. Once I realized he was sleeping, I couldn't help but laugh and take a picture! Don't get me wrong, Macey is an excellent sleeper, but she has NEVER just fallen asleep in a high chair or some other random place.

B) Check out this video of Easton eating (and I use that term loosely) sweet peas. Pretty obvious that he's not a fan! I'm not sure that Macey ever turned down any baby food at all. Even now at 23 months, I can only think of a few things that she won't eat.

Why Did I Wait So Long to Read This Book?!

I'm not sure exactly what I thought Heaven is For Real was about, but this week my boss mentioned how great it was. For some reason, I'd written it off as a cutesy little fictional story, but I have no clue why. When I heard that it was about a little boy who had actually experienced Heaven, I was intrigued to say the least.

I stopped by Target (where else?) and picked up a copy yesterday afternoon. Before bed, I told Greg, "I'm just going to read a couple chapters before I go to sleep." Yeah, I read the entire book. Cover to cover. I've never read anything like it.

To read about this little boy's time with Jesus, the Holy Spirit and relatives that he'd never met on Earth was enough to give me goosebumps. Then to see how his experience in Heaven transformed how he lived his life--even as a preschooler--was enough to bring tears to my eyes on more than one occasion. Bravo to his parents for allowing him to reveal his story as slowly as he needed to, without rushing, prodding, interrogating or exploiting the true miracle he had been given.

I don't want to say too much because I'd hate to give anything away, but let's just say that if you're a believer, this book will undoubtedly affirm your faith and make you even more excited to get to Heaven. If you're not a believer, reading this book may cause you to think about things differently and even open up the idea of becoming a Christian.

Sweet, Sweet Baby

Easton is just too sweet! His new favorite thing to do is roll over from his back to his stomach, BUT he hates being on his stomach...so once he's there he's highly annoyed. He has lots of fun bouncing in his jumper, and he's just a little more precious every single day.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to my incredible husband! He's such an amazing dad, and I'm so thankful to have him in not only my life, but the lives of Macey and Easton. We are all so very blessed!

These awesome strawberries were part of Greg's gift!
Trying a chocolate-covered strawberry!
I think she likes it!

Eating berry #2. This kids loves strawberries, so of course chocolate makes them better!

Four Months Old!!

Mr. Easton turned four months old today! He did great at his check-up, weighing in at 15 lbs. 10 oz. (75th percentile) and 26 inches long (90th percentile). The most exciting part of the check-up was when our doctor gave us the go-ahead to start solid foods. Yay for fruits and veggies! Our poor boy just stares at our forks during dinner every time we take a bite, so I know he's just dying to dig into some real food. I'm sure we'll have some fun pictures of that adventure in the near future.

HAPPY 4-MONTH BIRTHDAY, EASTON!
Stretching for the big game!
Easton...look at the camera, please.
Hey! There you are!
Look at my shoes!
Hey, here come Macey and Daddy!
Macey and Daddy are so funny!
Happy boy!

Sugar and Spice, Huh?

You know that saying, "Sugar and spice and everything nice, that's what girls are made of." (Or something like that.) Sugar and spice ain't got nothing on Macey...and you know I mean business if I use improper grammar!

This girl is 50% sass and 50% mischief. Thankfully, she's got a WHOLE LOT of funny, sweet and adorable mixed in there, too.
Mommy makes yummy peanut butter sandwiches!
Her dramatic laugh with the mouth cover...
Yes, Aunt Meredith taught her about "see-food." :-)
On a mission...
...to get something off the counter!
What I found after Macey was playing in "Easty's" room!
Another view of the disaster. I couldn't help but laugh!

Thanks Carol!

Macey looks so sweet in her new dress that her Aunt Carol made just for her!

Dancing with Miss Macey

I was watching So You Think You Can Dance, and Macey just seemed to be in awe. Out of nowhere, she threw herself on the ground like the dancer did and started jumping around. It was so funny that we had to rewind his audition to watch Macey dance all over again! (I want to go ahead an apologize for Greg's shaky camera work. I've already told him he's not allowed to film stuff anymore!)
